Anna Raboin

DSCN0325.JPG

My name is Anna Raboin. I am 21 years old, and a senior at URI in the Secondary Education/Biology programs. In 2011 I graduated from Westford Academy in Westford, Massachusetts. I was born and raised in Westford. Biology has become my passion over the last four years. So much of the world and its beauty has been revealed to me through my classes. Microbiology, animal development, marine algae and vertebrate biology are some of my favorite topics. In addition to my studies, another thing I love in life is my family. They have supported me throughout my entire student career, and have provided inspiration to pass knowledge on to new generations. One thing that unites both my love for biology and my family is genetics!

Teaching Portfolio

Here is a link to my teaching rationale/philosophy.

Unit Plan: Genetics
This unit aims to show students just how influential DNA and genetics are to our lives. First, students are introduced to the basics of genetics, which include Mendel and his inheritance ideas, as well as meiosis. Topics covering structure and function of DNA are then covered. Structure of the double helix, and replication are included. Lastly, students get to see how proteins and mutations arise from our DNA.
